Senate Bill 195 would benefit communities across our region

Murray Ledger & Times

To the editor:

As a Western Kentucky insurance professional, I want to share my perspective on how Senator Craig Richardson’s Senate Bill 195 would benefit communities across our region.

Kentucky businesses and healthcare providers operate every day under an unfair and imbalanced civil litigation system that puts them at a higher risk for lawsuits than their counterparts in many other states. This means they’re forced to pay more for insurance, which then leads to higher costs for customers and patients.

SB 195 would help change that unfortunate reality through common sense reforms that will improve Kentucky’s civil liability system without limiting anyone’s constitutional rights.

If passed, our communities could benefit from growth and investment in Kentucky-owned businesses, access to more healthcare providers, and possibly even lower costs for goods and services.

I encourage our lawmakers to support SB 195 for the positive and lasting impact it can bring to communities across Kentucky.
